Proposal Development Travel

Deadlines:  None (apply by e-mail any time, review usually within 1-2 business days)

PURPOSE:  The program provides full support to faculty for travel, room, and meals to discuss a proposal or concept with a program officer.  Funds are available to cover all travel costs to discuss potential funding opportunities, concepts, and proposals with a sponsor's program officer.  These awards may be used to supplement funds available from the department, school, or college for this purpose.

APPLICATION FORMAT:
No application form is required.  Applications should include:

  1. The applicant's name and department
  2. The name, location, and approximate dates of the trip, grant sponsor or person visited, and expected outcome of the visit
  3. The estimated total cost of the trip

Lecturer Research Travel

Deadline:  None  (apply by e-mail any time, review usually within 1-5 business days).  Applications will be accepted as long as budgeted funds are available.

PURPOSE:  Up to $300 per person are provided to cover some of the costs of traveling to professional meetings to present papers based on research conducted at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

ELIGIBILITY:  UM-Dearborn part-time faculty members who are presenting a paper at a conference are eligible to apply.  Because of limited funds, individuals who receive these funds will be eligible for only one travel grant per year.

APPLICATION FORMAT
No application form is necessary.  Applications for Part-time Faculty Travel Support should include:

  1. The name, location, and approximate dates of the conference and title of the paper you are presenting (you must be presenting a paper)

  2. The amount of your request and the estimated total cost of the trip

  3. Other sources of support and amounts committed.

ALLOWABLE COSTS:  Expenses incurred prior to the application submission are not allowed; no funds will be provided for such costs.

Student Research Travel

Deadline:  None (apply by e-mail any time, review usually within 1-5 business days).  Applications will be accepted as long as budgeted funds are available.

PURPOSE:  Up to $300 per student are provided to cover some of the costs of traveling to national professional meetings to present papers based on research conducted at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  Funds are generally not available for state or regional meetings.  Because of limited funding, a given individual may receive only one grant in a year and only one presenter of a multi-author paper may apply.  Half of the funds will be awarded from July through December and the remainder through June.

APPLICATION FORMAT 
No application form is required.  Applications for Student Research Travel support should be sent by email from a "umich.edu" email address and include:

  1. The name, location, and approximate dates of the national conference.

  2. The title of the paper you are presenting (you must be presenting a paper) and the names of all authors

  3. The amount of your request and the estimated total cost of the trip

  4. Other sources of support and amount committed (including your own personal share of travel expenses, if any)

  5. Name of your research advisor and contact information for yourself (e-mail address, phone number)

Student Group Travel to Present Research Results

Deadlines:  October 15 and February 15
If the application deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline will be extended to the next regular business day.

PURPOSE:  Grants support groups of students (from on lab, student club, or department).  Up to $300 per student are provided to cover some of the costs of traveling to national professional meetings to present papers based on research conducted at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  Funds will normally not be provided for state or regional meetings. Because of limited funding, a given student may receive only one grant (group or individual) in a year and only one presenter of a multi-author paper may apply.

APPLICATION FORMAT 

An application for Student Group Travel should include:

  1. A Campus Grant application form and budget form;

  2. The name, location, and approximate dates of the national conference;

  3. List of students presenting the papers, titles of each paper they will be presenting (each student attending must be presenting a paper), and the names of all authors on each paper;

  4. The amount requested and the estimated total cost of the trip;

  5. Other sources of support and amount committed.
